This year the global campaign has chosen the theme for the campaign as “Orange YOUR Neighbourhood” for ending Violence against Women and Girls”. In this regard, BNPS has been designed a bunch of awareness and campaign activities throughout the 16 days by involving their women groups and other relevant stakeholders in their localities. The emphasis of the 2014 call for action is on the engagement of the community and the individual, and their participation in efforts to end violence against women and girls, emphasizing the fact that everyone in society has a role to play.
The awareness and campaign activities include rally, awareness meeting, seminar, distribution of IEC material, and cultural events etc. The program will be held at different schools and community groups in BNPS area offices and here at central level in Dhaka during 25th November to 10th December 2014. The activities are around protesting the rise of crimes against women and girls, building awareness on the domestic violence act and strengthening local interventions to stop violence against women and girls.
As part of above activities, BNPS central office is going to organize a National Seminar on “Achievement and Failure to resist Violence Against Women in Bangladesh” which will be held on 27th November 2014 at 10.00am at VIP lounge of National Press Club. We are anticipating that Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman of Women and Children Affairs Ministry, Begum RebakaMomin, MP will beparticipate as special guest in this occasion with other distinguished guests. Social activist and famous artist Ms. Afroza Banu will present the position paper in the seminar and she is also vice president of BNPS.
