Human chains were formed in Chittagong, Netrakona, Sandwip, Barhatta, Mohangonj and capital Dhaka this week by BNPS demanding an end to frequent repression against women and punishment to the rapists. At least 3 schoolgirls have been reported raped in recent months, with one succumb to her injuries.
In Tangail, a schoolgirl, 14, was allegedly grang raped by four men in Madhupur forest for three consecutive days. She is under treatment in Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the Capital.
In Rangamati, an indigenous girl was killed after being brutally raped in Borodalupara village, Kawkhali Upazila of Rangamati district. The victim, was a student of class eight. Her dead body was found in the slopes of a mountain just 200-300 yards away from her home.
Thousands of women grassroots groups members of BNPS, students, teachers and youth of associated schools, colleges and clubs, community forum leaders and women and human rights activists joined the protests. The protesters also brought out processions in Netrakona and Barhatta.
