Observation of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender based Violence by Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS) has gained a new momentum this year. Apart from participating in national and district level activities, BNPS grassroots women groups have been observing this international fortnight campaign by organising different programmes at their own localities.

The programmes include rally, human chain, distribution of IEC material, awareness meeting and cultural events at different schools and community centres located in Dhaka suburbs. The activities are around protesting the rise of crimes against women and girls, building awareness on the domestic violence act and strengthening local interventions to stop violence against women and girls .


Chief Guest Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury,Honourable Speaker of Bangladesh National Parliament, is delivering her speech.

Earlier on 28 November, BNPS participated in inauguration and human chain on “Orange the World in 16 Days” organised by UN Women Bangladesh and National Parliament Secretariat. Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, the Honourable Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament inaugurated the ceremony and led the human chain.
