A 50-day long sewing training started from 17 July 2021 at the Multi-Purpose Women Center (MPWC) of BNPS in Cox’s Bazar under the “Empowering Rohingya and Host Community Women through leadership, learning and livelihood” project in an unceremonious environment because of COVID situation. Total 30 women in 2 batches will be received the training.

For this training, the participants were finalized through several steps of selection procedure. BNPS collected data of women from Cox’s Bazar Sadar to assess their need. This process was conducted with the technical support of Oxfam. Based on this data the respondents were divided several trades as per their choices. In the third step, the volunteers conducted household visit, talked to the respective person who selected the sewing/ dress making trade for training and prepared a short list and shared to MUKTI Cox’s Bazar (as they are providing the technical support in the training). In the stage four, MUKTI EFSL team organized a meeting with the selected participants and then made the final list of 30 participants. These women are especially from poor families where they have no male earning members.

After the successful completion of the training, each of the participants will get a sewing machine with supporting materials as honorarium prize.

BNPS hope to organize a gorgeous closing ceremony with the presence of respective government officials, local leaders and representatives from donor & partner organizations to encourage these women to be empowered economically in their life by themselves.
